NSE Partners with Ministry of Defence to Enhance Capital Market Access for MSMEs in Defence Sector
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has partnered with the Ministry of Defence to enhance capital market access for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the defence sector. This collaboration aims to streamline the process for MSMEs to raise capital efficiently and transparently via the NSE Emerge platform.
Over the next five years, the NSE and the Department of Defence Production (DDP) will conduct awareness campaigns. These will include seminars, MSME camps, and workshops to educate companies on fundraising through NSE Emerge. The initiative seeks to provide MSMEs with new opportunities for equity capital raising.

The NSE Emerge platform offers diverse investor options for raising equity capital. This agreement is designed to create a transparent and efficient process for MSMEs in the defence sector to secure necessary funding. The collaboration aims to help these enterprises scale up operations and explore new markets.
NSE will also assist MSMEs in connecting with intermediaries like merchant bankers and registrars. They will guide these enterprises on capital markets, capital raising mechanisms, and regulatory compliance. This support is crucial for helping MSMEs navigate the complexities of the capital markets effectively.
The MoU was signed by the Additional Secretary of the Department of Defence Production and NSE's Managing Director, with Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane present. This partnership is expected to help MSMEs fund their research and development activities, thereby enhancing their growth potential.
"This pact will help MSMEs and emerging companies in the defence sector to scale up their business operations, explore new markets and fund their R&D activities," stated NSE. By providing access to a diversified set of investors, this initiative offers new opportunities for equity capital raising.
In conclusion, this agreement between NSE and the Ministry of Defence is set to significantly benefit MSMEs by facilitating easier access to capital markets. Through various awareness initiatives and support mechanisms, these enterprises can better navigate regulatory requirements and connect with essential market intermediaries.
