Kerala: American Woman Intoxicated At Beach, Gang Raped By 2 In Kollam

In a shocking incident, a 44-year-old American woman was gang-raped by two men. The incident occurred on July 31 night and two men have been arrested in connection with the incident.

The woman had arrived in India recently and was staying at an ashram near Kollam, according to a report in PTI.

The woman was sitting alone at a beach near the ashram when two men came up to her and offered her cigarettes. After she refused, they offered her rum.

According to the woman's complaint, after consuming alcohol, she became intoxicated. Following this, the men took advantage of her vulnerable state, placed her between them on a bike, and forcibly transported her to a nearby vacant house, where she was subjected to multiple instances of gang rape.

The cops said that the woman had lodged a complaint on the night of August 1.

A case has been filed under sections 119(a) (performing sexual gestures or acts in public places degrading the dignity of women) of the Kerala Police Act and section 509 (insult modesty of a woman) of the IPC, they said.

Man Arrested For Flashing At Student On Train

In another such shameful incident, A 51-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly flashing at a female college student on a moving train. The incident occurred on July 31, onboard the Coimbatore-Mangalapuram inter-city express as it was passing through the Kannur district, the police said.

The man was taken into custody by Kasaragod Railway Police based on the student's complaint after the train reached Kasaragod station.
