Yahya Sinwar's Wife Spotted Carrying Hermes Birkin Bag Worth Rs 26 Lakh Inside Tunnel | WATCH

Former Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, who was killed in an Israeli operation in southern Gaza last week, was reportedly seen in CCTV footage moving inside a tunnel with his wife and children just hours before the deadly October 7 attack on Israel last year.

The now-deceased Hamas leader was shown carrying items such as pillows, mattresses, a television, and bags into the tunnel beneath their family home in Khan Younis.

Meanwhile, his wife was observed carrying what Israel claimed to be a Hermes bag valued at $32,000.

Israel stated, "Yahya Sinwar's wife was caught sneaking into the tunnels the night before the October 7 attack," further alleging that she was carrying a Hermes Birkin bag worth $32,000 (equivalent to Rs 26.88 lakh).

"While Gazans endured hardship under Hamas, Sinwar and his family shamelessly lived in luxury, indulging while sending others to die," Israel remarked.

Israel shared a screenshot from the video, showing Sinwar's wife holding a bag. Though the picture was unclear, the design of the bag was said to "appear similar" to the Hermes Birkin 40 Black Togo Gold Hardware edition. Hamas has yet to respond to Israel's claim.

This footage was released after Sinwar was killed in Rafah during an Israeli armour-infantry assault. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) 828th Brigade conducted "intelligence-based targeted raids and operations" during which they found assault rifles, sniper rifles, and Sinwar's body at the site.

Israeli army spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari presented images of the underground facility, which included toilets, showers, and a kitchen. The IDF also found food, cash, and documents at the site.

Hamas, however, claimed that Sinwar had died heroically while engaging in combat, dismissing Hagari's statements as "blatant lies."

Drone footage captured earlier this week showed Sinwar in his final moments, gravely injured, throwing an object at the drone. An autopsy confirmed that Sinwar had died from a gunshot wound to the head, and it was also revealed that one of his fingers had been severed.

Throughout the year-long Israel-Hamas conflict, the Israel Defence Forces had frequently come close to capturing Sinwar, but he had consistently managed to evade them. Israel eventually located Sinwar's final hideout after discovering "his DNA sample on a tissue with which he blew his nose," according to Hagari.

Yahya Sinwar was the mastermind behind the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel, during which over 1,200 people were killed, leading to a year-long Israeli operation in Gaza, which resulted in the deaths of over 40,000 people, including children.
