Xi Jinping elected general secretary of CPC Central Committee

They were nominated by the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the 19th CPC Central Committee and approved at the first plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee on Wednesday.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has been given a second five-year term as leader of the ruling Communist Party. Also, Jinping has been named the chairman of CPC Central Military Commission.

Zhao Leji was elected secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Wednesday. Zhao was elected at a plenary session of the CCDI, at which the CCDI also elected its deputy secretaries and Standing Committee members.

The following is a list of members of the Secretariat of the 19th CPC.

Wang Huning, Ding Xuexiang, Yang Xiaodu, Chen Xi, Guo Shengkun, Huang Kunming, and You Quan.

They were nominated by the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the 19th CPC Central Committee and approved at the first plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee on Wednesday.

On the closing day of the 19th CPC, "We believe that all the decisions and plans the Congress has made and all the outcomes it has achieved will play a vital role in guiding and ensuring success in our major endeavours," Xi said.

The closing session, attended by 336 delegates and specially invited delegates selected 204 members and 172 alternate members of the 19th CPC Central Committee.

The once-in-five-years Congress of the CPC on its final day yesterday approved Xi's ideology to be written into its Constitution, which is in addition to the title of "core leader" conferred on him last year that analysts say enhances his leadership status above other leaders of the party.
