Who Is Reham Khan? The Controversial Figure Behind The Pakistan Republic Party
Reham Khan, former wife of ex-Prime Minister Imran Khan, has stepped into Pakistan's political arena with the launch of her own political party. Announced at the Karachi Press Club, the Pakistan Republic Party is being positioned not merely as a party but as a "people-powered movement", aiming to bring public service and real representation to the forefront of national politics.
A New Political Vision
At the press conference, Reham Khan declared her mission to challenge Pakistan's entrenched political elite. "This isn't just a party; it's a movement to transform politics into a form of service," she said. Emphasizing her independence, she added, "I've never accepted political roles in the past. I joined a party once only because of one individual. But today, I stand on my own."

She said the idea for the party came from widespread public dissatisfaction with the country's political status quo, where basic needs like clean water and healthcare remain unmet. She reflected on the lack of progress from 2012 to 2025 and insisted that Pakistan's Parliament must reflect all segments of society. "Representation must come from people who genuinely belong to those communities," she noted.
Reham chose the Karachi Press Club as the launch venue, calling it a place that stood by her during difficult times. "I had promised that any major announcement I'd make would happen right here," she said.
Who Is Reham Khan?
Reham Khan gained national attention in 2015 following her high-profile marriage to cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan, who led the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Their union became a media sensation, not only because of Imran's political stature but also due to the timing-it occurred shortly after the horrific Taliban attack in Peshawar that killed over 130 schoolchildren, which led to public scrutiny and backlash, particularly from conservative factions.
Before her association with Imran Khan, Reham had built a successful career as a journalist and later ventured into film. In 2016, she produced the romantic comedy Janaan, set in the scenic region of Swat.
However, her marriage to Imran lasted only ten months, ending in October 2015. In 2018, Reham reignited public debate when she accused Imran of infidelity during their marriage, claiming he had an affair with Bushra Wattoo-who later became Imran's third wife and was eventually divorced as well.
Now, with her own political platform, Reham Khan is setting her sights on redefining political engagement in Pakistan. Her message is clear: real change will only come when ordinary people, not elites, are given a voice in the country's decision-making.
