Watch Viral Video Of Amazon's World's Largest Snake, 26 Feet Long And 200 Kg
A video of a 26-foot-long green anaconda has been recorded by one of the scientists, Prof. Dr. Freek Vonk. A new species of green anaconda has been discovered in the Amazon rainforest by a team of scientists.
The video of the anaconda, believed to be the biggest snake in the world, was shared by Vonk on Instagram.

Amazon's World's Largest Snake
In the caption, it was noted that the anaconda seen in the video is as thick as a car tyre, eight meters long, and weighs over 200 kg, with a head as large as Vonk's head. Total awe and admiration were expressed for the "monster" snake.
"It's not every day that you come across a mythical and legendary creature," he remarked. "I've previously discovered a new species, albeit a small snake from Australia. Now, however, I've encountered something truly remarkable - a snake that I could fit four times over! Undoubtedly, this stands as one of the pinnacles of my scientific career, particularly as this species calls the Amazon, a place that feels like home to me, its habitat."
The newly discovered species has been designated with the Latin name Eunectes akayima, translating to "northern green anaconda." The term "akayima" derives from various indigenous languages of northern South America, signifying "big snake."
According to reports by the Independent, the new species was initially encountered during the filming of National Geographic's Disney+ series "Pole to Pole with Will Smith." The team of scientists has subsequently published their findings in the journal Diversity.
Dr Bryan Fry from the University of Queensland shared insights on the encounter, stating, "The size of these magnificent creatures was incredible - one female anaconda we encountered measured an astounding 6.3 meters long. There are anecdotal reports from the Waorani people of other anacondas in the area measuring more than 7.5 meters long and weighing around 500 kilograms."
Green anacondas primarily inhabit the tropical regions of South America, particularly in the basins of the Amazon, Orinoco, and Esequibo rivers. The species comprises two variants - the southern green anaconda and the newly discovered northern green anaconda.
Known for their formidable hunting abilities, green anacondas prey on a variety of animals including caimans, capybaras, deer, and tapirs. They employ a technique of constriction to overpower their prey, often executing successful hunts even underwater.
