Moments after the bite, Humplett, trying to stay calm, humorously complimented the snake. "What a meme dude! Cool snake. Big diamondback. GG (good game)," he said in a video, chuckling despite his serious injury. As he continued filming, he acknowledged that a bite from this particular snake could be fatal, calling it “the worst snake you can be bitten by in Florida."

Despite the severity of the situation, Humplett carried on filming, saying, "Let's get the pictures of it first. I mean, we’re already screwed anyways." His friends stood in stunned silence, unsure how to react to his nonchalant response.

Humplett’s humorous demeanour quickly shifted into a fight for his life. After being rushed to the hospital by a medical helicopter, he was administered 88 injections of antivenom to counteract the snake’s venom. In a subsequent video from his hospital bed, Humplett could be seen struggling to speak.

“I started going into anaphylactic shock. I thought my shin was going to explode. I’m scared I’m gonna die but hopefully not,” he said in a trembling voice.

Despite the harrowing experience, Humplett remains remarkably calm and positive. He acknowledged the rattlesnake’s behaviour, stating, "The snake is just doing what it does. It perceived me as a threat, and it was just trying to protect itself. I’m not mad at the snake, and I don’t want anyone else to be mad at the snake either."
