Trump Urges Biden Administration to Cease Sale of Unused Border Wall Sections
Donald Trump, the President-elect, has urged the Biden administration to halt the sale of unused border wall materials. These materials were purchased during Trump's first term but remain uninstalled. Speaking from his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida, Trump threatened legal action and mentioned discussions with Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and other officials about a potential restraining order.

"We're going to spend hundreds of millions of dollars more on building the same wall we already have," Trump stated. "It's almost a criminal act." Congress had mandated the Biden administration to dispose of these unused materials. This directive was part of the National Defence Authorisation Act, allowing for their sale or donation to southern border states for refurbishing existing barriers.
Unused Border Wall Materials
The legislation also required the Pentagon to account for storage costs while these materials remained unused. Trump appealed directly to President Biden, saying, "I'm asking today, Joe Biden, to please stop selling the wall." Despite describing the transition between administrations as "friendly," Trump criticised efforts allowing some federal employees to continue remote work.
Trump warned that government workers who do not return to office under his leadership would face dismissal. Alongside Trump at the event was SoftBank Group CEO Masayoshi Son. Son announced plans for a $100 billion investment in US projects over four years, marking a significant achievement for Trump.
Investment Announcements
This announcement is seen as a victory for Trump, who has been promoting his policies and negotiating deals since the election. On his Truth Social platform last week, Trump promised expedited approvals and permits for anyone investing $1 billion in the US. "GET READY TO ROCK!!!" he wrote enthusiastically.
While some deals announced with great enthusiasm have not always met expectations, this announcement represents a significant win for Trump. He has claimed more accomplishments during his transition period than his predecessor achieved in four years. "There's a whole light over the entire world," Trump said on Monday. "There's a light shining over the world."
The developments highlight Trump's ongoing influence and efforts to shape policy even before officially taking office again. His focus remains on infrastructure and economic growth, aiming to secure substantial investments and bolster national projects.
