Signs Of Kidney Failure...: Pope Francis' Condition Is Critical, Blood Tests Show No Good Signs

Pope Francis, aged 88, remains in a critical state as he battles pneumonia affecting both lungs. The Vatican reported that his condition is stable, with blood tests indicating mild kidney failure, which is currently managed. Despite his health challenges, the Pope participated in the Holy Mass from his hospital apartment at Gemelli Hospital on Sunday morning.

According to Vatican News, the Pope experienced a severe respiratory crisis resembling asthma, necessitating high-flow oxygen. This occurred on Saturday evening, but since then, he has not faced further respiratory issues. The Vatican emphasised that while his condition is serious, he remains alert and oriented.

Pope's Health Update

The Vatican shared that Pope Francis has been hospitalised at Rome's Gemelli Hospital since February 14. His medical team continues to monitor him closely due to the complexity of his clinical situation. They are awaiting feedback from pharmacological therapies before making any definitive prognosis.

In a message on X, the Pope expressed gratitude for the global prayers and support he has received. "I have recently received many messages of affection, and the letters and drawings from children have particularly struck me. Thank you for your closeness, and for the consoling prayers I have received from all over the world!" he shared.

Ongoing Medical Care

Despite his critical condition, those caring for him during his hospitalisation joined him in the Holy Mass held in his hospital apartment. The Vatican reiterated that while there are no new respiratory crises since Saturday evening, they remain cautious about his prognosis due to ongoing treatment requirements.

The Pope's health update highlights that although he is vigilant and well-oriented, his condition necessitates continuous monitoring. The medical team is focused on managing both his pneumonia and mild renal failure effectively.
