Saudi Prince Alwaleed Bin Khaled Funeral Details: 'Sleeping Prince' Dies After 20 Years In Coma
Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Khaled bin Talal passed away on Saturday, after being in a coma for nearly two decades. The prince fell into a coma following a severe car accident in London in 2005. He was 36 years old at the time of his death.
Prince Alwaleed was just 15 when the accident occurred while he was attending a military college in the UK. The crash resulted in critical brain injuries and internal bleeding, leading to his prolonged coma. He was later transferred to King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh, where he remained under constant medical care.

Condolences from Global Imams Council
The Global Imams Council expressed its condolences, stating, "The Global Imams Council extends its sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to...His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and the esteemed Royal Family, on the passing of Prince Alwaleed bin Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, who passed away after a long struggle that lasted nearly twenty years following a tragic accident."
Prince Khaled bin Talal, the father of Prince Alwaleed, shared his sorrowful message: "With hearts full of faith in Allah's decree and destiny, and with profound sadness and sorrow, we mourn our beloved son Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, may Allah have mercy on him, who passed away to Allah's mercy today."
The Journey of 'The Sleeping Prince'
Over the years, Prince Alwaleed became known as 'The Sleeping Prince.' Occasional footage showing minimal movements like finger lifts provided brief hope to those following his condition. Despite efforts by American and Spanish specialists, he never regained full consciousness.
Prince Khaled remained steadfast in his commitment to his son's life. He consistently refused to withdraw life support, believing that only God has the authority to determine the moment of death.
A Life Cut Short
Born in April 1990, Prince Alwaleed was the eldest son of Prince Khaled bin Talal Al Saud. He was also a nephew of billionaire businessman Prince Alwaleed bin Talal. His life was tragically cut short due to the accident that left him comatose for so many years.
Funeral prayers are scheduled for Sunday, July 20th. They will take place after the Asr prayer at Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh.
