PM Modi and US President Biden Discuss Key Issues Including Russia-Ukraine Conflict Before Quad Summit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with US President Joe Biden during the Quad summit. The meeting took place at Biden's residence in Wilmington, Delaware. They were expected to discuss various topics, including the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Modi was warmly welcomed by Biden, who led him into his home. The two leaders planned to explore new ways to strengthen the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.

Modi expressed anticipation for his meeting with Biden, stating it would help deepen the strategic partnership between India and the US. He was accompanied by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, and Ambassador Vinay Mohan Kwatra. The US delegation included Secretary of State Antony Blinken and National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan.
Quad Summit and Indo-Pacific Cooperation
The Quad summit, hosted by Biden in Wilmington, aimed to introduce initiatives for Indo-Pacific cooperation. It also sought peaceful resolutions for conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza. The Quad, comprising India, the US, Australia, and Japan, promotes a free and inclusive Indo-Pacific region. China views it as an anti-China alliance.
Modi looked forward to joining Biden, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida at the Quad Summit. He highlighted the forum's role in fostering peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region. A significant initiative on cancer prevention and treatment was also set to be unveiled by the Quad leaders.
Engagements with Indian Diaspora and Business Leaders
Upon arriving at Philadelphia International Airport, Modi received a warm welcome from the Indian diaspora. Many wore traditional attire and held Indian flags. Modi interacted with them, signing autographs and shaking hands. "An energetic welcome in Philadelphia! Our diaspora's blessings are greatly cherished," he shared on X.
Modi's itinerary included attending an Indian community event in Long Island on September 22. He would also address the Summit of the Future at the UN General Assembly on September 23. Additionally, he planned to meet with American business leaders working on advanced technologies like AI and quantum computing.
The Summit of the Future aims to create a global consensus for a better present and future. Modi intended to share perspectives representing one-sixth of humanity at this event. He emphasized that India's stakes in a peaceful future are among the highest globally.
The Quad summit underscored cooperation among like-minded nations for regional stability. Modi's engagements highlighted India's commitment to strengthening ties with both its diaspora and international partners for mutual benefit.
