PM Modi Stresses on Peace and Diplomacy Ahead of His Ukraine Visit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the eve of his visit to Ukraine, emphasised India's commitment to peace in the region. Addressing the Indian diaspora in Poland, he reiterated that conflicts should be resolved through diplomacy and dialogue. "India is the land of Lord Buddha's legacy. Therefore, India is an advocate of permanent peace in this region," Modi stated.

India's Global Outreach
Modi highlighted India's evolving foreign policy, noting a shift from maintaining distance to fostering close relations with all countries. He said, "Today's India wants to connect with all. Today's India talks about the development of all." This approach reflects India's broader vision of global cooperation and mutual development.
During his address, Modi also mentioned India's swift response to global crises. He recalled India's efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, stating, "When Covid came, India said - Humanity first. We sent medicines and vaccines to more than 150 countries of the world." This underscores India's humanitarian approach in times of need.
Focus on Development and Innovation
Modi discussed India's focus on quality manufacturing and manpower, crucial for the global supply chain. He mentioned that Budget 2024 prioritises youth skilling and job creation. "We want to turn India into a centre of education, research and innovation," he added. This highlights India's commitment to becoming a hub for global talent and innovation.
The Prime Minister also reflected on historical ties between India and Poland. He recalled Poland's assistance during the Gujarat earthquake two decades ago and announced the launch of the Jam Saheb Memorial Youth Action programme. This initiative will invite 20 Polish youths annually to visit India, fostering cultural exchange and strengthening bilateral relations.
Tributes and Historical Connections
Modi paid tribute at the Monte Cassino memorial, honouring the sacrifice of thousands of Indian soldiers. "This is a proof of how Indians have performed their duty in every corner of the world," he said. Such gestures underscore India's respect for its historical contributions globally.
He also highlighted similarities between India and Poland, particularly their democratic values. Modi emphasised that India is not just the mother of democracy but also a vibrant participative democracy. He noted that recent Lok Sabha elections were the largest in history, with 640 million voters participating.
Economic Aspirations
Modi expressed confidence in India's economic future, promising that India will become the third-largest economy in his third term. He cited NASSCOM estimates predicting India to become a trillion-dollar economy by the end of this decade due to its digital infrastructure. This reflects India's ambitious economic goals.
The Prime Minister also spoke about balancing economic growth with ecological sustainability. He stated that India is committed to both becoming a developed nation and achieving Net Zero emissions together. This dual focus highlights India's integrated approach to development.
Modi thanked Poland for its warm welcome and support during Operation Ganga, especially for visa waivers granted to Indians. He also praised the Polish Kabaddi team for its achievements, showcasing cultural connections between the two nations.
In conclusion, Modi's visit underscores India's commitment to peace, global cooperation, and sustainable development while honouring historical ties and fostering future collaborations with Poland and Ukraine.
