Peruvian Man Accused of Sending Bomb Threats and Attempting Child Exploitation Arrested by US Officials
Eddie Manuel Núñez Santos has been arrested in Peru on charges of threatening interstate communications, making false information and hoaxes, attempted sexual exploitation of a child. He allegedly threatened young girls on an online gaming platform with bomb threats to extort explicit photos from them.
The Department of Justice in the United States recently reported a significant arrest in Peru. Eddie Manuel Núñez Santos, a resident of Lima, is currently facing charges after allegedly sending over 150 bomb threats to various locations across the U.S., including school districts, synagogues, airports, hospitals and even a mall last month.
Modus Operandi

According to investigators, Núñez used an unnamed gaming platform as his primary hunting ground. Posing as a teenage boy by the name of "Lucas", he would approach young girls and request sexually explicit photographs from them. When these girls refused his demands, he resorted to intimidation and threats.
A Dangerous Threat
Court documents reveal that Núñez's threats were not idle ones. He threatened to kill the girls who refused him or blow up their schools among other serious threats. His ultimate aim was to extort child sexual abuse material from them using fear and coercion.
Terror Tactics
Núñez did not stop at merely threatening his victims; he took steps towards making those threats appear real. He sent hoax bomb threats via email or through online forms to several places associated with his victims. The fact that these emails were sent between September 15th and September 21st has been confirmed by court documents.
Breadth of Impact
The geographical spread of this case is extensive with incidents recorded in New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Arizona, and Alaska according to court records. Investigators have identified at least four girls on the gaming platform who were targeted by Núñez – some as young as thirteen years old.
Legal Proceedings
An arrest warrant for Núñez was filed in the U.S. Southern District of New York, charging him with threatening interstate communications, making false information and hoaxes, and attempted sexual exploitation of a child. At 33 years old, Núñez is now facing serious charges that could have severe consequences.
In conclusion, this case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers lurking online for young, impressionable minds. It underscores the importance of vigilance when it comes to online safety and highlights the need for stringent security measures on gaming platforms frequented by minors. The swift action taken by investigators across international borders also demonstrates the global commitment towards tackling such heinous crimes.
