Jaishankar Emphasises India's Commitment to Viksit Bharat During UNGA Address
India's journey towards becoming a developed nation, or 'Viksit Bharat,' is being closely observed as it achieves significant milestones like lunar landings and global vaccine distribution, stated External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. Addressing the UN General Assembly, Jaishankar emphasised the importance of instilling hope and optimism during challenging times.

Jaishankar underscored India's commitment to addressing the needs of vulnerable groups, including women, farmers, and youth. He highlighted efforts to create employment opportunities and entrepreneurial ventures. By developing replicable models and encouraging the Global South to unite on shared issues, India aims to tackle global challenges effectively.
Digital Transformation and Its Impact
The transformative power of digital technology has been evident in India over the past decade. Public benefits such as nutritional support, housing, energy, and health services are delivered efficiently on a large scale. This digital shift has also facilitated small business loans and farmer support without intermediaries.
Jaishankar noted that when street vendors and expatriates confidently use fintech for daily transactions, services become more transparent and accessible. This seamless delivery ensures fewer people are left behind, showcasing "India’s experience and India’s relevance." Such advancements highlight India's potential as a model for others.
Leapfrogging with Visionary Leadership
The minister described leapfrogging possibilities as game changers when combined with people-centric policies and visionary leadership. He stressed that significant changes can occur swiftly through digital innovation. "We have to demonstrate that big changes are possible, and not over a long period," he stated.
Jaishankar concluded by reiterating India's role in providing hope during troubled times. By working together globally, he believes that solutions to the world's problems can be found. The ongoing transformation in India serves as an example of how collective efforts can create positive change worldwide.
