Major Diplomatic Rift: White House Cancels High-Level Talks With Netanyahu Over Weapons Delay Claims
Amid the ongoing devastating war between Israel and Palestine, tensions rise between Tel-Aviv and Washington as Prime Minister Netanyahu accuses the Biden administration of halting weapon supplies to their close ally during the war.
The scheduled talks, intended to discuss critical bilateral issues and regional security, were abruptly called off following a series of statements from Netanyahu alleging that the Biden administration was intentionally stalling the delivery of military aid to Israel. These claims were denied by the White House, leading to heightened tensions between the two long-standing allies.

"We genuinely do not know what he is talking about.
'We just don't,' White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said, continuing to mention that only one shipment of heavy bombs has been paused while billions of dollars of arms have been shipped to Israel.
The US is by far Israel's biggest source of weapons and ammunition. By law, it provides Israel with $3.8 billion in military aid each year. The US Congress passed a bill last month providing a further $14 billion in military support.
One of the top U.S. officials mentioned how astonished he was by Netanyahu's lack of gratitude and that they should be thankful for the long and resourceful partnership they have been in, and Biden's top aides called off the strategic dialogue on Iran that was supposed to involve the American and Israeli governments and agencies.
In Tel-Aviv, there have been mixed emotions as some top officials have rallied behind Netanyahu and his claims and supported his calls for expedited military aid from the U.S., while others have criticized Netanyahu for potentially jeopardising their relations with the U.S.
The cancellation of these talks marks a rare and serious rift in U.S.-Israel relations Analysts suggest that the abrupt decision to cancel the talks is indicative of the Biden administration's displeasure with Netanyahu's handling of the situation. The move is also seen as a signal that the US will not tolerate what it perceives as undue pressure or public grandstanding by its allies.
This diplomatic spat comes at a challenging time for both countries. For the U.S., maintaining stability in the Middle East strategic partnership and their relationship with Israel is a cornerstone for their accessibility to the region.
