Leonardo DiCaprio Endorses Kamala Harris For US President Over Her 'Significant Climate Action' Policies

Leonardo DiCaprio has publicly backed Vice President Kamala Harris for the presidency, advocating her climate policies.

On Friday, the actor posted a video where he criticised Donald Trump's stance on the climate crisis and praised Harris' role in passing the Inflation Reduction Act.

Leonardo DiCaprio Endorses Kamala Harris

"Earlier this month, hurricanes Helene and Milton devastated parts of Florida, Georgia and North Carolina. Families lost homes, livelihoods, and loved ones to some of the strongest Atlantic hurricanes ever recorded," DiCaprio said in a video on social media.

"These storms have done an estimated $100 billion in damage, and make no mistake, these unnatural disasters were caused by climate change."

"Donald Trump continues to deny the facts. He continues to deny the science. He withdrew the United States from the Paris Climate Accords and rolled back critical environmental protections," he continued.

"Now he's promised the oil and gas industry that he'll get rid of any regulation they want in exchange for a billion-dollar donation. Climate change is killing the earth and ruining our economy. We need a bold step forward to save our economy, our planet and ourselves. That's why I'm voting for Kamala Harris."

DiCaprio went on to commend Harris for her "significant climate action," and her ambitions to reach net zero emissions by 2050 through building a green economy that he says will create jobs and "save our planet."

"Check your registration at IWillVote.com and join me in voting for Kamala Harris on November 5 because we cannot afford to go backward," he concluded.

DiCaprio has long been a proponent of climate action and has supported Democratic candidates over the years, attending a fundraiser for Joe Biden in 2020.

In recent months, Harris has gained support from numerous celebrities in the music and entertainment industries, including Megan Thee Stallion, Taylor Swift, Charli XCX, Bruce Springsteen, Maná, and Cardi B, among others.

Who is leading in swing states?

The race in the seven battleground states remains tightly contested, with recent polling averages showing no clear front-runner.

In Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, and North Carolina, both campaigns have held narrow leads since early August, with Trump now holding a slight edge in each of these states.

In Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, Harris led for much of August by margins of two to three points. However, recent polls indicate a close race, with Trump now slightly ahead in Pennsylvania.

These three states, once Democratic strongholds, flipped to Trump in 2016, helping secure his presidency. Biden reclaimed them in 2020, and if Harris can do the same, her path to victory remains strong.
