Former TikTok Influencer And Mother Found Guilty In Fatal Car Crash Case
A former TikTok influencer, Mahek Bukhari, aged 24, and her mother, Ansreen Bukhari, aged 46, have been convicted, along with two other defendants, for engineering a fatal car crash that resulted in the death of two men. The incident occurred in February 2022, and the victims, Saqib Hussain and Hashim Ijazuddin, both aged 21, lost their lives when their car was rammed off the road, split in two, and caught fire after hitting a tree. The tragic event was reported by The Guardian.
According to the prosecution's case, Mahek, a British Pakistani, and her mother, Ansreen, had arranged a meeting with Hussain in a car park to confront him about sexual photos and videos he possessed of Ansreen, with whom he had been involved in an affair for approximately three years. The evidence presented during the trial revealed that Hussain had threatened to expose the affair by sharing intimate images and videos of them.

As Hussain and Ijazuddin attempted to drive away, they were pursued at high speeds, reaching 100mph, by two vehicles driven by the other defendants, Rekhan Karwan and Raees Jamal. The chase ended tragically when the assailants rammed their car off the road, leading to the fatal crash.
Moments before the crash, Hussain made a desperate call to emergency services, 999, seeking help as the assailants tried to force their car off the road. In the call, Hussain expressed his fear, saying, "There's guys following me. They've got balaclavas on. They're trying to ram me off the road. They're trying to kill me - I'm going to die."
The jury deliberated for 28 hours during the three-month trial at Leicester Crown Court before reaching their verdict. Rekhan Karwan and Raees Jamal were found guilty of murder, while Natasha Akhtar, Ameer Jamal, and Sanaf Gulamustafa were convicted of manslaughter. Mohammed Patel was found not guilty, as reported by The News International.
Leicester police investigations revealed that Ansreen Bukhari had decided to end her relationship with Hussain, but he refused to accept it. This led to alleged threats from Hussain to disclose the affair to Ansreen Bukhari's husband and to share explicit images and videos of her. The sentencing is scheduled for September 1st, and the defendants have been warned by Judge Timothy Spencer KC that they can expect severe sentences.
