Crime Against Indian Origin In US: Hyderabad Student Found Dead in Cleveland, Ohio After 3-Week Disappearance
Indian embassy in New York declared on the social media platform, X, formerly known as Twitter, on Teusday that a 25-year-old student from Hyderabad has been found dead.

Mohammed Abdul Arfath, who had been missing for nearly three weeks, was reported to have been found deceased in Cleveland, Ohio. Earlier, it had been stated by the embassy that they were in contact with Abdul's family and were collaborating with local law enforcement agencies in the search for him. The embassy this morning stated that he had been found dead.
In a post on X, the embassy expressed their deep sorrow upon learning of Mr. Mohammed Abdul Arfath's death, for whom a search operation had been underway. Condolences were extended to Mr. Mohammed Arfath's family by the embassy.

It was also noted that @IndiainNewYork was working with local agencies to ensure a thorough investigation into Mr. Mohammed Abdul Arfath's death. All possible assistance was being provided to the bereaved family to facilitate the transportation of his mortal remains to India.
It has been learned that a ransom call demanding $1,200 for his son's release was received by Abdul's father.
Eleven Indians have died in the US this year, with most of them being students. The consecutive deaths have caused shock and worry among Indian students in the US and their families in India. It has been reported that over 2.6 lakh Indian students were migrated to the country in the 2022-2023 session, representing a 35 per cent increase from the previous session.

The Indian Consulate in New York expressed deep sorrow over the unfortunate passing of Uma Satya Sai Gadde, an Indian student in Cleveland, Ohio on APRIL 5.
The Consulate has assured the family of the deceased student of all possible assistance, including the prompt transportation of his mortal remains to India.
