Colombia’s President Petro Claps Back At Trump Over Migrant Deportation Dispute: Here's What He Said

Colombian President Gustavo Petro has lashed out at U.S. President Donald Trump after a series of diplomatic tensions regarding the deportation of migrants. The conflict began when Trump's administration insisted that Colombia accept military flights carrying deported migrants. Initially, Bogota resisted, triggering a series of retaliatory threats from Washington, including the imposition of harsh tariffs and sanctions. However, these measures were recently paused after Colombia agreed to allow the flights but insisted on better treatment for the migrants involved, as reported by NDTV.

Petro Slams Trump's Attitude and Racism

Colombia s President Petro Claps Back At Trump

In a passionate post on social media platform X, President Petro took aim at Trump's approach to both the deportation issue and his alleged racial views. Petro claimed that having a meaningful conversation with Trump would be difficult, as the U.S. president views Colombians as "inferior." "Maybe one day, over a glass of whiskey, we can talk, but it's difficult because you consider me an inferior race, and I'm not, nor is any Colombian," Petro wrote, echoing his deep frustration with the American leader's stance.

'I Don't Shake Hands with White Slavers'

President Petro continued to criticize Trump's policies, particularly accusing him of acting out of "greed" and warning that such behavior could be disastrous for humanity. Petro made it clear that he would not be intimidated by Trump's threats. "I don't like your oil, Trump," he remarked, further distancing himself from the U.S. president's approach. The Colombian leader also declared that his country no longer seeks approval from the U.S., highlighting Colombia's independence and sovereignty, as reported by Hindustan Times.

A Defiant Stand for Colombia's Freedom

Petro boldly rejected any notion of subservience to the U.S., saying, "I don't shake hands with white slavers. I shake hands with the white libertarian heirs of Lincoln and the black and white farm boys of the USA." His words emphasized Colombia's commitment to its own freedom and autonomy, refusing to bow to outside pressures, as per media report.

A Message to the World

This public clash between Petro and Trump underscores the growing tensions between the two nations. With a defiant stance, Petro has positioned himself as a staunch advocate for his country's independence, signaling to the world that Colombia will not be swayed by external influence.
