Charlie Kirk Sniper Video: Rooftop Gunman Spotted 200 Yards Away at Utah Valley University Shooting

A disturbing video has surfaced showing a sniper on the roof of the Losee Center at Utah Valley University (UVU) just moments after Charlie Kirk, a prominent conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA, was shot dead. The footage captures the figure running across the rooftop shortly after the gunfire that critically wounded the conservative activist. Kirk was rushed to a nearby hospital but was later pronounced dead.

Suspect Spotted on Rooftop

Kirk, 31, co-founder of Turning Point USA, was at UVU for his "American Comeback Tour." New developments have emerged in the investigation after videos circulating online appeared to show an individual positioned on the roof of Sparks Automotive, roughly 200 yards from where Kirk was delivering his speech. According to reports, cops are reviewing this footage as part of the ongoing investigation.

An older man in a blue shirt was briefly detained by police shortly after the incident but was later released when authorities found no evidence linking him to the shooting. Officials stressed that no suspects are currently in custody.

FBI and ATF Take Charge

The FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) are leading the federal investigation into the assassination. Detectives are focusing on ballistics, security footage, and eyewitness testimony to trace the shooter's movements and determine whether the rooftop figure is connected to the attack.

"We initially questioned George Zinn as a suspect, but he was later released and charged with obstruction by UVU police. A second individual, Zachariah Qureshi, was also taken into custody but released following questioning by law enforcement," the Utah Department of Public Safety (DPS) stated.

"There are currently no confirmed links between either individual and the shooting. The investigation and manhunt for the shooter remain ongoing," the statement added.

An AP report noted that Zinn had previously pleaded guilty in 2013 to making terrorist threats after sending emails to Salt Lake City Marathon organizers claiming he planned to plant bombs at the finish line.

The shooting took place around 12:10 p.m. as Kirk was addressing a crowd of nearly 3,000 attendees. A single sniper shot struck him in the neck, and despite being rushed to a hospital, the 31-year-old activist died from his injuries.

The assassination has drawn bipartisan condemnation from political leaders. Many have called the shooting a grave attack on democracy and urged Americans to reject political violence. Vigils and tributes are being held across the country to honour Kirk's memory and legacy as a conservative voice who mobilised younger voters.

Turning Point USA later released an official statement confirming Kirk's death:

"It is with a heavy heart that we confirm Charles James Kirk has been murdered by a gunshot that took place during Turning Point USA's American Comeback Tour campus event at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025. May he be received into the merciful arms of our loving Savior, who suffered and died for Charlie."

The organization also urged prayers for Kirk's wife, Erika, their two children, and his extended family as they navigate this devastating loss.
