Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari Makes Surprising Proposal for Pakistans Next President

Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party, recommends his father, Asif Ali Zardari, as the next President of Pakistan, emphasizing his experience and crisis management skills.

On Tuesday, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari expressed his desire to see his father, Asif Ali Zardari, reassume the role of President. Zardari, who previously served as Pakistan's President from 2008 to 2013, is currently 68 years old.

Zardari for President: Bilawals Bold Suggestion Shakes Political Landscape

PPP's Decision to Support PML-N and Zardari's Candidacy

During a press conference, Bilawal announced his withdrawal from the prime ministerial race. He declared that the PPP would not be part of the new government but would extend support to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif's bid to secure an unprecedented fourth term as Prime Minister. Concurrently, Bilawal expressed his aspiration to see Zardari as the next President.

Bilawal's Reasoning Behind His Proposal

Bilawal firmly believes that his father possesses the necessary qualities to address the significant challenges currently faced by Pakistan. He asserted, "I am not saying this because he is my father, I am saying this because the country is in a huge crisis at the moment and if anyone can douse this fire, it is Asif Ali Zardari."

PPP's Stance on Joining the Government and Political Stability

Bilawal clarified that the PPP had decided against joining the federal government and would not seek ministerial positions in such a setup. However, he emphasized the party's commitment to preventing political chaos in the country. He stated, "But we also don’t want to see political chaos in the country."

PPP's Acceptance of Election Results and Conditional Support

Bilawal acknowledged the PPP's concerns regarding the election results but emphasized the party's decision to accept them "in the larger interest of the country." He indicated that the PPP would be willing to support the election of a suitable candidate for Prime Minister and address specific issues to ensure the formation of a stable government.

Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari's proposal to reinstate his father, Asif Ali Zardari, as President reflects the PPP's strategic considerations in the current political landscape of Pakistan. While the party has chosen not to join the new government, its support for Nawaz Sharif's premiership and Zardari's potential presidency underscores its commitment to political stability and addressing the nation's pressing challenges.
