Investigative authorities from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Bangladesh and India have disclosed that Anar fell victim to suffocation, administered within a few hours of his arrival at the premises, as reported by Times of India.

- Law enforcement officers acted swiftly upon receiving a crucial lead from an app-based taxi driver who ferried the suspects, as per media reports.
- They descended upon Krishnamati village in Bhangar, where certain body parts of the victim were believed to have been disposed of.
- Anwarul Azim Anar, aged 56, was a prominent Member of Parliament representing the Jhenaidah-4 constituency in Bangladesh.
- He was affiliated with the Awami League, a longstanding political entity in Bangladesh that has remained the ruling party since 2009.
- Md Akhtaruzzaman, known as Shaheen, emerged as the prime suspect in Anar's murder, as reported by TOI.
- Shaheen, a businessman and younger sibling of the mayor of Kotchandpur municipality in Jhenaidah, allegedly orchestrated the assassination.
