Airstrike Caught On Live TV: Israeli Missiles Hit Syrian Defence HQ In Damascus

In a dramatic moment caught on live television, an Israeli missile strike targeted Syria's Ministry of Defence building in Damascus just as a news anchor was broadcasting. The female anchor was visibly shocked as a massive explosion erupted behind her, shaking the camera and sending a large cloud of grey smoke into the sky. In a state of panic, she fled the scene mid-broadcast. The video of the incident has since gone viral across social media platforms.

The strike was part of Israel's ongoing military operations in Syria, marking the third consecutive day of airstrikes. According to reports, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) first struck near the entrance of the Syrian Defence Ministry in the morning, followed by a larger bombing of the same location several hours later.

The escalation comes amid intensifying clashes between Syrian government forces and Druze militias in the southern city of Sweida. Visuals from Damascus show extensive damage and thick plumes of smoke rising from buildings, reflecting the magnitude of the strikes.

The Israeli military has indicated that more strikes could follow. The IDF has already targeted Syrian government convoys and increased its presence along the borders, suggesting a deepening involvement in the region.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the nation in a video message posted on X (formerly Twitter), expressing solidarity with the Druze community in Israel and Syria. "My brothers, the Druze citizens of Israel: the situation in Sweida, the situation in southwestern Syria, is very serious. The IDF is operating, the Air Force is operating, other forces are operating. We are acting to save our Druze brothers and to eliminate the gangs of the regime," he said.

Netanyahu also urged Israeli Druze not to cross the border into Syria. "You are risking your lives; you could be murdered, you could be taken hostage, and you are impeding the efforts of the IDF. Therefore I ask of you: return to your homes and let the IDF take action," he appealed.

The ongoing conflict in Sweida, a Druze-majority region, has become a flashpoint, drawing increasing attention and intervention from Israel, as tensions with the Syrian regime continue to spiral.
