Yogi effect: Attendance shoots up in UP govt offices
The Yogi Adityanath effect is becoming clearer and impactful in government offices in Uttar Pradesh with each passing day. What started off as a ban on pan, chewing tobacco and plastics is transforming not just offices but also officials of the Uttar Pradesh government. Thanks to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's strict instructions, offices are up and running on the dot.

Gone are the days of lazy sauntering, late coming and long breaks in the secretariat. The guards at the secretariat are now used to turning vehicles away since there is no parking space left. Before 9.30 AM officials are in office carrying out their work. Cleanliness has become most important with punctuality being the norm. The ministers themselves are setting the standards giving the officials no other option but to follow suit.
Chewing gums and toffees are replacing tobacco and pan masala and biometric systems will soon replace the attendance entry register in government offices. Cameras keep a close eye on officials consuming pan masala and tobacco. Warning signs and posters remind officials that Rs 1,000 penalty will be levied on anyone chewing tobacco or pan inside office premises.
Officials have been instructed to be in the office by 9.30 AM and leave only after finishing work. Taking officials files home is a strict no-no with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asking government servants to brace for 18-20 hour long work hours. Ministers like Upendra Tiwari, S P S Baghel, Suresh Rana, Swatantra Deo Singh, Surya Pratap Shahi, Dharampal Singh and Suresh Khanna, Srikant Sharma and Sidharth Nath Singh reach offices before 9.30 AM and their staff follow suit.
