Yogi Adityanath Cracks Down On Food Safety: New Regulations To Combat Contamination In UP
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has implemented new regulations for food establishments in the state following alarming reports of unsanitary practices, including spitting and the addition of human waste to food items.
The initiative aims to enhance food safety and hygiene standards across eateries.

Yogi Adityanath Cracks Down On Food Safety
During a high-level meeting in Lucknow, Adityanath mandated that the names and addresses of all operators, proprietors, and managers must be prominently displayed at every food center. He also directed that chefs and waitstaff wear masks and gloves while handling food. Additionally, the installation of CCTVs in restaurants and hotels has been ordered to ensure compliance with these new regulations.
The Chief Minister expressed his disgust at the recent incidents involving food adulteration, labeling the presence of human waste in food as "disgusting." He noted that strict actions would be taken against anyone found tampering with food items in such a manner.
These measures come in the wake of several alarming incidents, including the arrest of an employee at a Saharanpur eatery, who was filmed spitting on rotis. A juice vendor in Ghaziabad was also arrested for allegedly serving fruit juices mixed with urine. In another case in Noida, two men were apprehended for selling contaminated juice.
Adityanath emphasized the need for thorough investigations of dhabas, restaurants, and other food establishments, calling for police verification of every employee to maintain food quality. He also suggested necessary amendments to the Food Safety and Standards Act to uphold the purity and integrity of food items.
Highlighting the gravity of the situation, the Chief Minister stated, "Such incidents are gruesome and have an adverse effect on the health of the common man. Such efforts cannot be accepted at all." He reiterated that comprehensive measures must be taken to prevent these occurrences in Uttar Pradesh, urging for a state-wide campaign to verify all employees in the food sector.
With these new regulations, the government aims to restore public confidence in food safety and promote better hygiene practices within the state's eateries.
