Yogendra Yadav Heckled In Poll Bound Maharashtra's Akola; Video Goes Viral

Political activist Yogendra Yadav was allegedly pushed and manhandled on Monday at an event in Akola in Maharashtra. A video of the incident has now gone viral.

As per Yadav, a mob of 40-50 people prevented him from speaking, forcing him to cut short his speech. He has described the incident as a "grave concern for democracy lovers." Allegedly, the political activist was hackled by the supporters of Vanchit Bahujan Aaghadi (VBA) over his remarks on Bhimrao Ambedkar and reservation.

He was speaking at an event related to Bharat Jodo Abhiyan and was about to talk on "Protection of Constitution and our vote" when the mob climbed the stage. "Despite police intervention, the attackers continued their vandalism, and the event had to be called off," Yadav said.

Expressing his dismay, he added, "In 25 years of speaking across Maharashtra, I've never faced such an incident. This is sad for democracy, but it only strengthens our resolve."

Meanwhile, the VBA has claimed that it raised tough questions over Congress's anti-reservation steps despite securing votes in the elections from marginalised communities. It claimed that Yadav left the spot after failing to respond to the supporters' questions.

"Congress took the votes of Buddhists, Dalits, Tribals, Muslims, OBCs to defeat BJP, but Congress is doing the work of BJP. Unable to give a proper answer to any of these questions, the people of Maharashtra Democratic Front and Bharat Jodi Abhiyan tried to silence the people asking the questions. However, Yogendra Yadav and Ulka Mahajan withdrew from the program as they did not have an answer to any question," the message shared by Prabuddh Bharat, a newspaper linked with VBA, said in a post.
