Duo Fakes Kidnapping in Kota to Fund Overseas Trip, Traced in Indore

In a surprising turn of events, Indore police have successfully located a 21-year-old woman and her friend, who had allegedly concocted their own kidnapping narrative to extort money for overseas travel. The duo, identified as Kavya and Harshit, both aged 21, had been missing for over two weeks, prompting a search operation across Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Crime Branch, Rajesh Dandotia, confirmed their discovery in Indore's Devguradia area. The revelation came after an intense investigation that spanned multiple states. According to the Rajasthan police, Kavya was supposed to be studying in a Kota hostel, as per her mother's arrangements last year. However, she only spent three days in Kota before relocating to Indore.

The plot thickened last month when Kavya's parents, hailing from Shivpuri in Madhya Pradesh, received a distressing photograph showing their daughter bound and gagged, alongside a ransom demand of Rs 30 lakh. This prompted her father to file a kidnapping complaint with the Kota police. However, the investigation soon uncovered that the kidnapping claim was entirely fabricated.

The motive behind this elaborate hoax was revealed to be the duo's desire to travel abroad without the financial means to do so. In an attempt to deceive her parents and authorities, Kavya had staged photographs suggesting she was being held captive in Kota. Nevertheless, CCTV footage later indicated that both she and Harshit were actually in Indore during this period.

The case is now back with the Kota police for further action. This incident has highlighted the lengths to which individuals might go to fulfill their aspirations, even at the cost of legal boundaries and family distress.
