Will Make Safe and Prosperous Jammu and Kashmir: PM Modi In Srinagar Thanks People For Trusting Him
Ahead of the second phase of polling for assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday addressed a rally in Srinagar to woo the voters. The event took place at Sher-e-Kashmir park, which was under tight security, in view to Prime Minister's pressence and massive footfall. During his speech, Modi expressed gratitude to the people of Jammu and Kashmir for their trust in his leadership.
Modi emphasised that the high voter turnout in the first phase of elections demonstrated a rejection of parties associated with violence and terrorism. He stated, "The bumper voting in the first phase of Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections has rejected the parties that sympathize with stone pelting and terrorism. The people here have full faith in Modi's guarantee of a safe and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir. Heartfelt thanks to the people who came to Srinagar to seek blessings."

Focus on Education and Employment
The Prime Minister highlighted efforts to improve education in the region. He mentioned that 50,000 children have returned to school, with pre-primary classes initiated in 15,000 schools. Additionally, around 250 schools are being upgraded to PM SHRI Schools. Modi also noted significant developments in higher education, including new colleges and increased medical seats.
In terms of employment opportunities, Modi shared that over 1,100 new medical seats have been added in recent years. Nursing programs now offer 1,500 more seats, while paramedical courses have expanded by over 1,600 seats. He assured that under his government, youth would find strength and opportunities without corruption.
Strengthening Democracy
Modi praised the people of Jammu and Kashmir for their role in strengthening Indian democracy. He remarked on how voting occurred without fear for the first time. "Festival of democracy is going on in Jammu and Kashmir, for the first time voting took place without the shadow of terror," he said.
The Prime Minister also criticised three influential families he believes are responsible for past turmoil in the region. He claimed these families are now panicking as they face accountability for their actions.
Record Voter Turnout
The Prime Minister expressed pride over record-breaking voter turnout across various constituencies. Areas like Kishtwar saw over 80% participation, while Doda recorded above 71%. This surge indicates a growing enthusiasm among voters from all walks of life.
"A new history has been written by people of Jammu and Kashmir," Modi stated proudly. He acknowledged how aspirations within the region have reached unprecedented levels due to this democratic engagement.
In closing his speech, Modi thanked Kashmiri citizens warmly for their support during his visit: "I can see today Kashmiri brothers are saying 'Khushaamdeed PM' (welcome PM), I also thank them from bottom of my heart."
