Who Is Abhishek Gupta? Arrested CEO Of Rau's IAS After Basement Flooding Tragedy
In a tragic incident that has left the nation in shock, three UPSC aspirants lost their lives after being trapped in the flooded basement of Rau's IAS Study Circle, a prominent coaching centre in Delhi, during heavy rainfall. In a swift response to the incident, Delhi police have arrested Abhishek Gupta, the CEO and owner of the centre, and Deshpal Singh, the coordinator.
Both Gupta and Singh were presented before a magisterial court and have been remanded in 14 days' judicial custody.

The incident occurred on Saturday evening when heavy rain caused the basement of the coaching centre to flood, trapping around 30 students inside. Despite efforts by the Delhi Fire Department to rescue the students, three bodies were recovered after several hours. Twelve to fourteen students were rescued and taken to hospital, while others managed to escape.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has since sealed 13 illegally operated coaching centre basements in Old Rajinder Nagar in response to the incident. An investigation into the incident is ongoing, and Delhi police have arrested five additional individuals in connection with the case.
Who is Abhishek Gupta?
Abhishek Gupta, who has been leading Rau's IAS Study Circle since February 2009, has a background in business and finance, having previously worked as an analyst at Watson Wyatt and Jones Lang LaSalle. His LinkedIn profile shows that he completed his schooling at Modern School in Delhi and graduated from Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies.
Incident Details:
On Saturday evening, a devastating flood occurred in the basement of Rau's IAS Study Circle in Delhi, caused by heavy rainfall in the city. The Delhi fire department received an emergency call around 7 pm reporting that students were trapped in the flooded basement.
Firefighters faced significant challenges in pumping out the water due to the ongoing rain, but after several hours, they managed to recover the bodies of three students. The incident occurred while approximately 30 students were present at the centre. Thankfully, 12-14 students were rescued and taken to the hospital, while others were able to escape unharmed.
In response to this tragic event, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) took swift action by sealing 13 illegally operated coaching centre basements in Old Rajinder Nagar on Sunday.
The Delhi police have also arrested five individuals in connection with the incident. An investigation into the incident and the operations of coaching centres in the area is ongoing.
