The cost of WhatsApp Business Premium typically ranges between $5 and $10 per month, depending on the region. In India, this translates to approximately ₹450 to ₹900 per month.

WhatsApp Business API for Large Enterprises

For large organisations such as banks, airlines, and e-commerce platforms, WhatsApp offers the Business API, which operates on a pay-per-conversation model rather than a fixed subscription.

Under this system:

Companies pay for message "sessions" sent to users

Pricing varies based on the type of message, including authentication messages (such as OTPs), utility messages (like shipping updates), and marketing or promotional messages

This model is primarily used for high-volume, automated customer communication and is not intended for small businesses or individual users.

Do You Need to Pay for WhatsApp?

For most users, the answer is no. Anyone using WhatsApp simply to chat, call, or share media with friends and family can continue doing so for free. Even when WhatsApp Premium for regular users officially launches, it will remain optional and focused on added features such as themes, extra pinned chats, and visual customisation.
