Piyush Goyal Praises West Bengals Contribution to Indias Growth
Union Minister Piyush Goyal lauds West Bengals role in Indias development, predicts increased support for PM Modi, and highlights economic reforms.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal emphasized the significant role West Bengal will play in India's upcoming phase of growth during a recent program. He expressed confidence that the state's support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi will increase in the upcoming elections, building on the substantial backing it provided in the previous polls. Goyal believes that Bengal has the potential to drive rapid growth for the nation and play a crucial role in controlling inflation.

India's Transformation Under the BJP Government
Goyal highlighted the remarkable reforms implemented over the past decade, which have transformed India's economy from a weak state to one of the top five economies globally. He acknowledged the challenges faced due to corruption in the past, which eroded confidence and trust. However, under the current government, the GDP growth rate has accelerated from 4-4.5 percent to over 7 percent, making India the fastest-growing large economy in the world. International agencies predict that India will become the third-largest economy in the coming years.
West Bengal Minister Responds to Goyal's Statement
In response to Goyal's statement, senior West Bengal minister and TMC leader Chandrima Bhattacharya pointed out that, according to Goyal's own words, India is yet to become a developed nation despite ten years of BJP rule. She emphasized that West Bengal has consistently been at the forefront of progress, both before and after independence, and has served as a guiding light for the entire country.
Challenges Faced by West Bengal
Bhattacharya acknowledged the challenges the state faced due to the misrule of the Left Front government for 34 years until 2011, when TMC leader Mamata Banerjee took over. Despite the lack of cooperation from the Narendra Modi government, Bhattacharya asserted that West Bengal has witnessed unprecedented development under Mamata Banerjee's leadership, with the active participation of youth and women.
The exchange between Union Minister Piyush Goyal and West Bengal minister Chandrima Bhattacharya highlights the ongoing discourse on the state's role in India's growth and the challenges it has faced. As India moves towards becoming a developed nation, the contributions of all states, including West Bengal, will be crucial in shaping the country's future.
