'Went To Bed As Man, Woke Up As Woman': UP Native 'Tricked' Into Sex-Change Surgery By 'Friend'

Mujahid, a 20-year-old resident of Sanjak village, Uttar Pradesh, went to bed as a man but woke up as a woman. His life took a turn for the worst when he found out that his genitals had been removed and an alleged sex change surgery had been performed on him.

The victim, added that he was first sedated by his "friend" and then transported to a hospital in Muzaffarnagar district. He was unconscious at the hospital while the operation took place.

"He brought me here, and the next morning I had an operation. When I regained consciousness, I was told that I had been changed from a boy to a girl," said Mujahid.

Mujahid revealed that this "friend", who the police identified as Omprakash Pal, had been molesting and harassing him for the past two years. On June 3, he convinced the doctors of Begrajpur Medical College in Mansoorpur to perform the surgery on Mujahid. Then the accused told him that he was now a woman and they both will have to get married.

"When I woke up, Omprakash told me that I am a woman now and that he would take me to Lucknow to marry me. He threatened to kill my father if I resisted," Mujahid told India Today.

"He told me that he changed me from a man to a woman and now we will have to live together. He said a lawyer had agreed to conduct our court marriage and we will soon move to Lucknow, where his uncle lives. He wants to build a house there and he also withdrew Rs 35,000 from my account."

However, the doctors had a different story, and denied this claim. They said that Mujahid underwent sex reassignment out of his own will.

As per Hindustan Times, Omprakash was arrested on June 16 based on a complaint made by Mujahid's father.

This sensational case sparked outrage and led to protests by the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU).

BKU leaders say the hospital was involved in illegal organ trade.

"I believe there is a very big racket going on here where they remove vital organs of the body and sell them at a higher price," says farm leader Shyam Pal, demanding the government pay Rs 2 crore compensation to Mujahid.

"All the allegations made by the family and the protestors will be thoroughly investigated, and appropriate legal actions will be taken against those found guilty," Senior Muzaffarnagar police officer Ramashish Yadav said.
