Voting For Women's Reservation Bill Took Time Due To This Reason
The 'Women's Reservation Bill' that proposes 33 per cent reservation for women in parliament and state assemblies was passed by the Lok Sabha today. However, the voting took some time due to the absence of electronic voting.

The leaders were not yet assigned seats which prevented electronic voting from taking place. Problems pertaining to audio connections also delayed the process of voting.
Members of the Parliament also complained of not getting proper audio connections. Members were further annoyed as the new bills suddenly started popping on their screens. The Speaker however intervened in the matter and said there could be minor issues initially in the new house, but it would get sorted very soon.
The Women's Reservation Bill proposes 33 percent representation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies. The bill has been named Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam. The Bill proposes that the reservation will continue for 15 years. Seats reserved for women will be rotated after each delimitation exercise.
Women's reservation bill has been passed in Lok Sabha with 454 votes in favour. Two Parliamentarians have voted against the motion in Lok Sabha, House Speaker Om Birla said.
The Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha chambers have digitised voting systems, and state-of-the-art audio and visual systems to ensure effective legislative proceedings.
Twenty-seven women MPs spoke on the women's reservation bill today during the debate in the parliament. The bill was supported by BJP MPs along with the Opposition parties. However, the Opposition demanded for its immediate implementation. At present, there are 82 women MPs in the Lok Sabha, out of a total strength of 543.
