Vaishno Devi Shrines Old Cave Reopens for Pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir
The old and natural cave leading to the sanctum sanctorum of the Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu and Kashmirs Reasi district has reopened for pilgrims after performing a pooja. The cave is usually reopened during this time of the year due to fewer visitors.
In accordance with its annual tradition, the historic and natural cave leading to the innermost sanctum of the revered Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district was reopened on Sunday, as announced by officials. The reopening of the cave coincides with a period of the year when there is a reduced number of devotees visiting the shrine, prompting the decision to facilitate the yatra through the old cave.

Pilgrims Undertake Yatra Through Old Cave
Anshul Garg, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), confirmed that the old cave was reopened on Sunday, allowing pilgrims to undertake the yatra through this sacred passage. To ensure a smooth and meaningful experience for the devotees, a pooja was performed at the shrine prior to the reopening.
Efforts to Accommodate More Devotees
Recognizing the significance of the old cave for pilgrims, the shrine board expressed its commitment to facilitating more devotees to undertake the pilgrimage through this route. However, the permissible crowd capacity will be taken into consideration to ensure the safety and comfort of all visitors.
Regulating Darshan to Avoid Inconvenience
To prevent any inconvenience or congestion, the authorities have been instructed to carefully regulate the darshan through the old cave. This measure aims to manage the flow of pilgrims and ensure a peaceful and orderly experience for everyone.
Annual Reopening During Low-Rush Months
The natural cave is reopened annually only during the months of January and February, when the influx of pilgrims is relatively low. During the rest of the year, devotees utilize the newly constructed caves to reach the sanctum sanctorum of the temple.
