Uttarakhand Weather Alert: Cloudburst, Landslides Hit Nainital, Traffic Affected; Houses Collapse
A cloud burst incident between Kotdwar and Dugadda along National Highway 534 has triggered landslides, leading to significant devastation on both sides of the road. Additionally, a bridge on the national highway near the fifth mile has collapsed. The effects of torrential rains in Haldwani have caused flood-like conditions, resulting in the collapse of two houses in the Kathgodam area.
The ongoing heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand has left numerous vehicles stranded on the roads for extended periods. The road damage has made it extremely challenging for residents to travel to Kotdwar and Dugadda. Similarly, a major landslide near Lalpul, close to Siddhbali Temple, has forced road closures.

In the midst of standstill traffic in various regions, individuals have resorted to walking on foot between Kotdwar and Dugadda, braving the rain and darkness.
Recent Developments in the Uttarakhand Rain Situation:
Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Manish Kumar of Haldwani visited the affected areas, while Nainital Police teams, led by Senior Superintendent Of Police (SSP) Pankaj Bhatt, remain actively engaged. SSP Bhatt has maintained continuous communication with police units in sensitive areas of the district to assess the situation.
Haldwani residents have shared images and videos depicting water entering their homes due to the incessant rains over the past few days.
Approximately 250 people were reportedly stranded near Kalsia Nullah in Kathgodam. However, they have been successfully rescued and relocated to safe locations. Adequate arrangements have been made for their lodging, food, and water.
A local publication shared a video showing the collapse of a three-storey hotel in Kedarghati, Rudraprayag.
Local reports indicate that individuals stuck due to the rain can contact Haldwani's deputy collector at phone number 6399002099 for information and assistance. The administration has organized accommodations for evacuated individuals at the Inter College.
SDM Manish Kumar stated that, at present, only a limited number of people have been moved to the Inter College, but preparations have been made to accommodate nearly 100 individuals.
