Uttar Pradesh Secures Rs 12,031 Crore Under PMAY Urban 2.0 to Enhance Housing for Urban Poor
The Uttar Pradesh government has received financial approval of Rs 12,031 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban Mission 2.0. This initiative aims to provide permanent houses to urban poor families, according to a recent statement. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed officials to maintain transparency and quality in construction efforts.

Each eligible family will receive Rs 2.5 lakh to construct a permanent house. The funding for this scheme is shared between the Centre and the state government in a 60:40 ratio. This initiative not only offers social security but also supports integrated urban development throughout Uttar Pradesh.
Focus on Safety and Monitoring
All houses built under this scheme will include disaster-resilient features to protect against natural calamities like earthquakes and floods. This safety aspect is a crucial part of the programme. Additionally, geo-tagging and photographic documentation will be required for each house, allowing real-time monitoring during construction.
The PMAY Urban Mission 2.0 was launched on September 1, 2024, with the goal of providing pucca houses for all families by the deadline. Officials at both state and district levels are closely overseeing the project to ensure timely completion and quality standards are met.
Commitment to Housing for All
This housing initiative is a significant step towards achieving the goal of Housing for All. The scheme is designed to offer secure housing solutions while promoting urban development across the state. The focus remains on delivering quality homes that meet safety standards.
The government's commitment to this mission reflects its dedication to improving living conditions for urban poor families. By ensuring transparency and quality in construction, the initiative aims to provide lasting benefits to beneficiaries.
The programme's comprehensive approach combines social welfare with urban planning, aiming for sustainable development in Uttar Pradesh's cities. The integration of safety features and real-time monitoring underscores the government's focus on creating resilient communities.
