Union Cabinet Condemns Delhi Blast, Calls It 'An Act Of Terror'; Swift Probe Ordered

The Union Cabinet on Wednesday strongly condemned the terror attack near Delhi's Red Fort, describing it as a "heinous act" aimed at disturbing national peace and security. Following a high-level Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, the government emphasized that the investigation would be carried out with the "highest level of urgency and professionalism."

Addressing the media after the CCS meeting, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw said, "The country has witnessed a heinous terrorist incident perpetrated by anti-national forces through a car explosion near Red Fort on November 10. The Cabinet directs that the investigation into the incident be pursued with utmost urgency and professionalism, so that the perpetrators, their collaborators, and their sponsors are identified and brought to justice without delay."

The statement underlined the government's zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and its determination to dismantle any network involved in the deadly blast. The explosion, which took place on Monday evening near the Red Fort Metro Station, claimed 12 lives and injured several others.

Vaishnaw said all security and intelligence agencies have been asked to work in close coordination under the supervision of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is now leading the probe. The Cabinet has also directed the Ministry of Home Affairs to ensure enhanced surveillance and intensified checking at all major public places across the national capital.

The CCS reviewed preliminary reports from the NIA, Delhi Police, and the Intelligence Bureau before issuing its directive. According to sources, the Prime Minister has been personally monitoring developments since the night of the incident.

The Union Minister reaffirmed the government's resolve, saying, "India will never bow before terror. Those behind this cowardly act will face the full force of the law."
