Thousands of TMC Volunteers Set Out for Delhi to Stage Massive Protest Against Central Government
In response to the alleged withholding of funds by the central government, over 4,000 Trinamool Congress (TMC) volunteers are travelling from Kolkata to Delhi by bus. Despite flight cancellations and denied train bookings, Senior TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee affirmed that they will not be deterred from their political programmes.
On Saturday, a fleet of twenty-five buses set out from Kolkata to Delhi, carrying Trinamool Congress (TMC) volunteers for a planned protest against the Central Government's alleged withholding of funds. The TMC has expressed outrage over what it claims were deliberate obstacles put in place by the Centre, including denial of train bookings and cancellations of flights.
TMC Supporters March Towards Delhi

The convoy is expected to transport more than 4,000 people to the national capital as part of this organised demonstration. Additional vehicles are also reportedly departing from various districts across the country with more TMC supporters onboard. These actions highlight the party's determination to make their grievances heard on a national level.
Unyielding Stance Against Central Agencies
Prior to departure from Kolkata, Senior Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee made a strong statement reaffirming his party's resolve. He declared that TMC will not be intimidated or deterred from its political programmes by summons issued by central agencies. This bold stance underscores the ongoing tension between state-level parties and central government authorities in India.
A Peaceful Protest Planned
Banerjee also outlined plans for peaceful protests in Delhi: A sit-in involving MPs and state ministers at Rajghat on October 2nd followed by a rally featuring MGNREGA job card holders on October 3rd. Both events are set to be live-streamed, ensuring maximum visibility for their cause both nationally and internationally.
Allegations Of Political Intimidation
The Diamond Harbour MP has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on October 3rd in connection with an ongoing investigation into an alleged school jobs scam—an event coinciding with TMC’s planned protests. Banerjee has claimed that this is a strategic move by the Centre to stifle the movement of the poor people and undermine their protest.
In conclusion, TMC's planned protests in Delhi represent a significant escalation in its ongoing conflict with the Central Government over allegations of withheld funds. The party's determination to proceed despite alleged intimidation tactics suggests a deepening political divide in India. It remains to be seen how these events will unfold and what implications they may have for future relations between state-level parties and central government authorities.
