Actor and TMC MP Nusrat Jahan Interrogated by ED Over Alleged Fraud Case Involving Senior Citizens
TMC MP and actor, Nusrat Jahan was questioned for nearly six hours by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding an alleged fraud case where senior citizens were promised flats. The questioning revolved around her role as a director of the involved real estate company.
The Indian political and entertainment spheres were abuzz this week as Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP and actor Nusrat Jahan was subjected to a gruelling six-hour interrogation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday, September 12. The questioning took place at the ED's office in Kolkata, related to an ongoing investigation into allegations of duping senior citizens with promises of flats in New Town area.
Interrogation Focused on Real Estate Dealings

A senior official from the probe agency reported that Jahan, aged 33, had been summoned by the federal agency for questioning last week. During her interrogation, she was asked to clarify her role as director of a real estate company implicated in the case. Further questions revolved around other aspects related to the investigation. Upon exiting the ED's office in the evening, Jahan briefly addressed reporters saying "I answered all the questions I was asked. Thank you so much".
TMC Leadership Distances Itself
In response to these developments, TMC leadership has chosen to distance itself from Jahan while also affirming her cooperation with central agencies during this investigation process. Their stance is indicative of their intent not to interfere or influence any legal proceedings involving members associated with their party.
Queries Regarding Loan Repayment
An ED official disclosed that during questioning, Jahan was also probed about an alleged loan exceeding Rs one crore that she reportedly borrowed from the company under scrutiny. She faced queries regarding how she repaid this substantial amount. In response, it appears that Jahan submitted some documents which are now being examined by officers involved in this case.
Further Persons of Interest Identified
The same source revealed that officers have requested further information from Jahan regarding two additional individuals linked to the case. These persons of interest are Rakesh Singh and small-time actor Ruplekha Mitra, whose respective roles within this alleged scam have not yet been clarified.
In conclusion, the ED's ongoing investigation into allegations of duping senior citizens has seen a significant development with the questioning of TMC MP and actor Nusrat Jahan. The gruelling six-hour interrogation focused on her role as director of a real estate company implicated in this case, as well as her repayment of an alleged loan exceeding Rs one crore from said company. Further developments in this case will undoubtedly be closely watched by both political and entertainment circles alike.
