3 women among 53 held for passing lewd comments
Gurgaon, Oct 1: Three women were among 53 people arrested here for publicly passing lewd comments and making obscene gestures, police said on Thursday.
The arrests were made on the Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road, where a string of shopping malls and night clubs are located, during an anti-harassment drive called Romeo Free Gurgaon.

The drive was carried out around Wednesday midnight by a special squad of Gurgaon Police supervised by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Dharna Yadav.
Over 100 people, including 21 women, were also arrested last Saturday night for disturbing public peace in the same area. Police said most of them were in an inebriated condition.
"There was a visible difference since Saturday night's drive. The drive had a marked positive impact on shopkeepers and taxi auto services. Traffic was smooth. There was lesser nuisance compared to nights before the Saturday drive," ACP Yadav said.
She said such drives will continue in future given that regular complaints are received about a nuisance being created on M.G Road. The area has seen regular incidents of prostitution, drunken brawls and accidents because of drunk driving and fights.
"Police have taken up this challenge to make M.G Road a safe and secure place by the initiative named Romeo Free Gurgaon," she added.
