Ten Telangana Special Police Personnel Dismissed and 21 Arrested Over Protest Actions
On Monday, ten members of the Telangana Special Police (TGSP) were dismissed, and 21 others were arrested. They were allegedly involved in protests demanding uniform policies for all police personnel. Despite multiple warnings, these ten individuals continued actions that disrupted Battalion discipline and harmed the force's reputation, according to a police statement.

The dismissal of these personnel was executed under Article 311(2)(b) of the Indian Constitution. This action was deemed necessary due to circumstances affecting public interest. The protests have also seen participation from family members of TGSP personnel, who have been staging dharnas for better working conditions and uniform policies.
Protests and Disciplinary Actions
Earlier, 37 TGSP personnel faced suspension for alleged misconduct and inciting agitations. A separate police report indicated that cases were filed against 21 TGSP members who took part in an unauthorised protest on Monday. This protest directly violated Section 144 orders issued by Hyderabad police, which banned gatherings and demonstrations within city limits to prevent disturbances.
The arrested personnel are facing criminal charges and show cause notices for violating conduct rules and insubordination. These actions are considered a significant threat to public interest and security, as stated in the police release. The notices are being issued under Article 311(2)(b) of the Constitution.
Instructions to TGSP Personnel
In light of the ongoing protests, TGSP personnel stationed at the Secretariat received instructions on Monday. They were advised not to participate in any demonstrations or engage in social media activities that could undermine the force's discipline. A communication sent to them also warned against sharing or commenting on posts critical of the TGSP system, police officials, or the government.
The recent events highlight tensions within the Telangana Special Police regarding policy uniformity and working conditions. The authorities' response underscores their commitment to maintaining order and discipline within the force while addressing public safety concerns.
