Supreme Court Witnesses Tense Moments Over Plea Targeting Ex-CJI

In a recent incident at the Supreme Court, a petitioner lawyer was escorted out by security after failing to comply with court decorum and raising his voice, despite warnings. The court, led by Justices Bela M Trivedi and Satish Chandra Sharma, was in session to deliberate on a petition that sought an investigation against former Chief Justice of India (CJI), Ranjan Gogoi. The petition accused Gogoi of delivering an unfavorable ruling against the petitioner.

The petitioner, lawyer Arun Ramchandra Hublikar, had called for an in-house inquiry against Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, relating to the dismissal of his case which involved a service dispute. However, his conduct led to the court's decision not to entertain his petition. Despite the court having dictated its order, Hublikar continued to argue and level allegations, which prompted the justices to direct security personnel to remove him from the courtroom.

This turn of events underscores the importance of maintaining proper conduct and decorum within the judicial environment, especially in high-stakes situations involving allegations against figures of authority such as a former Chief Justice of India.

The court's refusal to entertain Hublikar's petition, coupled with the subsequent action of removing him from the courtroom, highlights the judiciary's stance on upholding its protocols and ensuring that proceedings are carried out in a respectful manner. This incident not only sheds light on the challenges faced by the judiciary in handling cases with sensitive accusations but also serves as a reminder of the procedural and behavioral standards expected in legal settings.
