Supreme Court of India Issues Warning on Fake Websites Soliciting Personal Information
The Supreme Court of India has alerted the public about several fraudulent websites mimicking its official site. These fake sites have been soliciting personal and confidential information from unsuspecting visitors. The Supreme Court registry issued a notice on Thursday, warning people to be cautious and not to share any sensitive details on these sites.

These deceptive websites are hosted on various URLs, and the attackers use them to gather personal data. The registry strongly advises against clicking or sharing any links without verifying their authenticity. It emphasised that the Supreme Court will never request personal, financial, or other confidential information from individuals.
Phishing Attack Concerns
The registry highlighted that the Supreme Court is the registered user of the domain name www.sci.gov.in. It urged users to always hover over URLs to confirm their legitimacy before clicking. This precaution helps prevent falling victim to phishing scams that aim to steal personal information.
If anyone has already fallen prey to these phishing attacks, they should immediately change passwords for all online accounts. Additionally, they should contact their bank or credit card company to report any unauthorised access. This step is crucial in safeguarding their financial information.
Legal Action and Public Safety
The Supreme Court registry has reported this phishing attack to law enforcement agencies. They are investigating the matter to identify and prosecute those responsible for these fraudulent activities. This action aims to protect the public and ensure justice is served.
The notice was issued in the public interest, urging everyone to be vigilant. It is essential not to click on unfamiliar links or share them without verifying their source. This cautionary measure helps prevent personal data theft by cybercriminals.
The Supreme Court's proactive approach in addressing this issue underscores its commitment to public safety. By raising awareness and involving law enforcement, it seeks to mitigate the risks posed by these phishing scams.
