SSC To Implement Aadhaar-Based Biometric Authentication In Exams From May 2025
Officials revealed on Sunday that starting in May 2025, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), a major central government recruiting agency, will use Aadhaar-based biometric authentication for all of its upcoming recruitment exams. The goal of this new policy is to improve identification verification and lessen fraudulent hiring practices.
Aadhaar Authentication to Strengthen Exam Integrity
The SSC, one of the biggest hiring organizations in the nation, chooses applicants for non-gazetted positions in a number of government agencies and ministries. The Commission recently informed the public that candidates will be able to use Aadhaar to confirm their identity at three different points in the recruitment process: online registration, application submission, and the exam center.

According to the official release, "The Commission has decided to implement Aadhaar-based biometric authentication in its forthcoming examinations." Additionally, it made clear that taking part in this authentication process is completely optional and that its goal is to improve the effectiveness and transparency of the exam process for applicants.
Aadhaar Verification: Involuntary but Successful
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) uses a person's biometric and demographic information to generate their 12-digit Aadhaar unique identification number. According to officials, integrating Aadhaar authentication into the SSC exams will greatly reduce exam-related fraud, including impersonation.
A notice released by the Union Personnel Ministry on September 12, 2023, approved the SSC's voluntary use of Aadhaar authentication in support of this action. The Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 2016 and all relevant UIDAI regulations and guidelines must be followed, the direction stressed.
SSC Exams Covered Under the New Authentication System
The SSC conducts numerous nationwide competitive examinations annually, including the widely popular Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGLE), along with three limited departmental competitive exams. The introduction of Aadhaar-based biometric authentication is expected to enhance fairness and integrity in these recruitment tests, while simplifying procedures for genuine candidates.
