SP Announces 16 Candidates For Lok Sabha Polls 2024, Dimple Yadav To Contest Mainpuri

The Samajwadi Party (SP) on Monday announced the names of 16 candidates slated to contest in the forthcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Notably, Dimple Yadav is set to compete in Mainpuri, Shafiqur Rahman Barq in Sambhal, and Ravidas Mehrotra in Lucknow.

The list of candidates includes Akshay Yadav (Ferozabad), Devesh Shakya (Eta), Dharmendra Yadav (Badayun), Utkarsh Verma (Khiri), Anand Bhadauriya (Dhaurahara), Anu Tandon (Unnao), Naval Kishore Shakya (Farrukhabad), Rajaram Pal (Akbarpur), Shiv Shankar Singh Patel (Banda), Avadesh Prasad (Faizabad), Lalji Verma (Ambedkar Nagar), Ram Prasad Chaudhary (Basti), and Kajal Nishad (Gorakhpur).

This announcement follows Akhilesh Yadav's statement on Saturday, expressing optimism about the commencement of seat-sharing discussions with the Congress for 11 constituencies. The specific constituencies under consideration remain undisclosed.

While the initial phase of the Samajwadi Party's alliance with the Congress encountered challenges, subsequent meetings suggest ongoing efforts to resolve the seat-sharing predicament.

Uttar Pradesh, contributing the highest number of members to the Lok Sabha (80), holds paramount significance for the I.N.D.I.A bloc's ambitions to displace the BJP in the upcoming elections.
