See What Happened Soon After CBI Nabbed Two Delhi Police Officers For Bribery!
In a recent development that underscores the ongoing fight against corruption within the police force, two officers of the Delhi Police were arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on charges of accepting a bribe of ₹10 lakh. The officers-Inspector Sandeep Ahlawat and Sub-Inspector Bhupesh Kumar, both posted at Burari police station-were allegedly involved in a bribery scheme aimed at extorting money in exchange for not implicating a man in a fabricated case.
The case, which has drawn significant attention, highlights the growing resolve within the system to tackle internal corruption. The arrests took place after a complaint was filed with the CBI on October 14, leading to a swift investigation and a sting operation that caught the accused officers red-handed.

The Allegations and the CBI's Operation
According to the CBI spokesperson, the complainant alleged that Inspector Ahlawat and Sub-Inspector Kumar demanded an astronomical sum of ₹1.5 crore to drop fabricated charges against him. The officers later agreed to accept ₹1 crore but decided to take an initial payment of ₹10 lakh. A sting operation was organised by the CBI, during which Sub-Inspector Bhupesh Kumar was caught accepting the bribe on behalf of his superior. Inspector Ahlawat was apprehended soon after.
This operation, while shocking, is a testament to the vigilance of anti-corruption bodies and the internal mechanisms that the Delhi Police and external agencies like the CBI have in place to root out corruption from within.
In response to the arrests, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Burari police station has been sent to District Lines, signaling an immediate administrative response to the allegations. This also reflects the Delhi Police's swift action in taking disciplinary steps against officers suspected of misconduct.
The Broader Issue of Corruption in Law Enforcement
Corruption within law enforcement is a deeply rooted issue that erodes public trust in the police force. When officers-tasked with upholding the law-engage in illicit activities, it not only undermines the authority of the institution but also compromises the very principles of justice.
The Bottom Line
For the public to have faith in the justice system, it is essential that officers who violate their oath are held accountable. The arrest of these two officers is a clear message that corruption within the police will not be tolerated, and those who attempt to misuse their power will face the full force of the law.
