Second set of declassified Netaji files to be released online today
New Delhi, March 29: The second set of declassified files relating to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose will be released online today on the government web portal www.netajipapers.gov.in. These will be uploaded by Dr Mahesh Sharma, the Ministry of State for Culture and Tourism (I/C) and Civil Aviation on March 29, 2016 at 3:30 PM.
The current batch of 50 files comprise of 10 files from the PMO office, 10 from the Ministry of Home Affairs, and 30 files from Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) pertaining to the period 1956 to 2009.

It should be brought to notice that the first 100 files, after their preliminary conservation, treatment and digitization, was placed in th epublic forum by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 23, 2016 on the occassion of the 119th birth anniversary of Netaji.
The current batch of files will be released on the internet for use by researchers and general public. However, they need to be scrutinized specially constituted Committee having experts from the field of Archives, who oversee the following aspects:

1. Quality of digitization of the records to be uploaded at the www.netajipapers.gov.in.
2. To check the physical condition of the files and resurrect and repair the records whenever required.
3. To check for duplication.
4. It may further be added that in 1997 the National Archives of India had received 990 declassified files pertaining to the Indian National Army (Azad Hind Fauj) from the Ministry of Defence, and in 2012, 1030 files/items pertaining the Khosla Commission (271 files/items) and Justice Mukherjee Commission of Inquiry (759 files/items) from the Ministry of Home Affairs. All these files/items are already open to the public under the Public Records Rules, 1997.
