Saudi Visa Ban: KSA Blocks Entry for India, Pakistan, 12 Others Over Hajj Misuse
Saudi Arabia has imposed fresh travel restrictions, suspending the issuance of certain types of visas to citizens from 14 countries-including India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.
The move comes as the Kingdom seeks to manage crowd control during the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
According to multiple media outlets, the visa suspension is expected to remain in place until mid-June, when this year's Hajj season concludes.

What Visas Are Affected?
As per reports, the suspended visa categories include Umrah visas, business visit visas, and family visit visas. However, the Saudi Foreign Ministry has yet to officially confirm the development, and outlets like Mint have been unable to independently verify the information.
The reported suspension has sparked disappointment among prospective pilgrims from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and other affected nations-many of whom had planned to undertake the holy journey this year.
Why Did Saudi Arabia Impose a Visa Ban?
Saudi authorities have cited concerns over unauthorized Hajj participation as the reason behind the recent visa suspension affecting 14 countries.
According to officials, individuals from several nations have been misusing Umrah and visit visas to illegally remain in the country and perform Hajj without proper registration. To curb this growing issue, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has directed authorities to tighten visa regulations, aiming to ensure a safe and well-regulated pilgrimage season.
When Will the Visa Ban Begin?
As per reports, April 13 marks the last day that Umrah and visit visas will be issued to nationals of the affected countries. After that, no new visas in these categories will be granted until the Hajj season ends in mid-June.
Countries Affected by the Saudi Visa Suspension
While one country has not yet been officially named, the following 13 nations have been identified as part of the restricted list:
India
Pakistan
Bangladesh
Egypt
Indonesia
Iraq
Nigeria
Jordan
Algeria
Sudan
Ethiopia
Tunisia
Yemen
The move follows the 2024 Hajj tragedy, where more than 1,000 pilgrims reportedly lost their lives, many of them unauthorised visitors. Overcrowding and extreme heat were cited as the primary causes of the catastrophe. In response, Saudi Arabia aims to prevent a repeat by strictly regulating access through official Hajj registration only.
