Royal Twist: Former Cricketer Ajay Jadeja Named Heir To Jamnagar Throne
Former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja has been named the next Jam Saheb of Nawanagar, also known as Jamnagar, a princely state in Gujarat.
This was confirmed by Maharaja Jam Saheb of Nawanagar in an official statement.

In a letter shared by news agency ANI, Shatrusalyasinhji Digvijaysinhji Jadeja announced that Ajay had accepted the offer to become his successor. Shatrusalyasinhji, the current Jam Saheb of Nawanagar, is Ajay's father's cousin.
Born into the former royal family of Nawanagar, Ajay Jadeja comes from a distinguished cricketing lineage. His relatives, K Ranjitsinhji and KS Duleepsinhji, are honoured through the prestigious Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy.
The announcement follows a recent visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who paid homage at the Jam Saheb of Nawanagar Memorial in Warsaw, Poland, in August.
"I witnessed a direct and living example of the deep ties between our peoples yesterday. I had the privilege of paying respects at the memorial of the Maharaja of Kolhapur. I am pleased that even today the people of Poland revere his philanthropy and generosity. To honour his memory, we are launching the Jam Saheb Nawanagar Youth Action Programme between India and Poland. Each year, 20 young people from Poland will visit India," PM Modi said after the visit.
The memorial celebrates the legacy of Jam Saheb Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji, the former Maharaja, renowned for his humanitarian efforts during World War II, where he earned the affectionate title of the 'Good Maharaja.'
Jadeja's cricket career, which lasted from 1992 to 2000, saw him play in 15 Test matches and 196 One Day Internationals for India. He was particularly known for his fielding abilities.
In addition to his cricketing accomplishments, Jadeja has pursued several other interests, including acting in Bollywood films, competing in the dance reality show 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa,' and working as a cricket commentator and analyst for various media outlets.
Recently, Jadeja gained attention as the team mentor for Afghanistan during the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023. Under his guidance, the team secured remarkable victories against England and Pakistan.
Ajay Jadeja's elevation to the royal throne is not just a personal achievement but also reflects his family's political legacy, as his father, Daulatsinhji Jadeja, served three terms as a Member of Parliament for the Jamnagar Lok Sabha constituency.
