R K Nagar bypoll manifesto wars: hospital, fish market find prominence
Both factions of the AIADMK have released their manifesto for the upcoming R K Nagar bypoll. While TTV Dinakaran released AIADMK Amma's manifesto in the form of pamphlets on Monday. O Panneerselvam who inaugurated the party office in R K Nagar, released AIADMK Puratchi Talaivi Amma's manifesto on Thursday. Apart from evoking Jayalalithaa, both factions have also made similar promises to the voters of R K Nagar constituency. Issues on drinking water, fish market and hospitals have found place in both manifestos.

Panneerselvam's 38-point manifesto
The former Chief minister of Tamil Nadu hopes to cash in on his image as 'confidante of Jayalalithaa'. In his attempt to convince R K Nagar voters that he understands their concerns best since he has discharged duties with Jayalalithaa, Panneerselvam has assured of making Kodungaiyur Ezhil Nagar dump yard a litter-free modernised zone. World class fish markets and better transport and medical facilities are common features in both manifestos.
Panneerselvam has included many of the promises made in the 2016 assembly elections by Jayalalithaa when she contested from the R K Nagar constituency. Setting up an RTO, MLA office on wheels, replacement of slum board buildings and construction of parks, flyover find mention.
The manifesto also promises better roads, playgrounds, amma pharmacy, new water tanks, better sewage systems, new market, efforts to ensure timely pension to senior citizens, permanent land documentation, backward class welfare homes, government offices, gyms, an all-girls school, tech park etc.
TTV Dinakaran's promise of 57,000 houses
TTV Dinakaran is reaching for the skies with his manifesto. The highlight of the manifesto was the promise of 57,000 houses that would be constructed in R K Nagar constituency. The promise was deemed 'amusing' by O Panneerselvam who called it a proof of Dinakaran's ignorance.
Apart from the promise of houses, TTV Dinakaran's manifesto speaks of establishing a super-specialty hospital, mobile hospitals and fish markets in the constituency. The manifesto that was released by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisami also promises a gymnasium, free training centres for developing soft skills and job fairs for unemployed youth on a regular basis.
His manifesto, much like Panneerselvam's, hails measures taken by Jayalalithaa and promises to fulfil the same just as she would have. While Panneerselvam's camp addresses core issues of the locality, TTV Dinakaran's manifesto attempts to impress youngsters.
